Moonedit

Central Montana Foundation is the oldest community foundation in Montana! Organized by a group of visionary businessmen in 1984, the Foundation offers our donors a chance to give back to the community they love.

Our Mission: To improve the quality of life in our region by building permanent endowments and providing philanthropic leadership that enables donors to make lasting investments in the community.

By working through the Foundation, worthy projects are able to provide donors with a tax deductible avenue for donations. CMF has 10 unrestricted permanent endowments from which income is used for its grant-making program. In a typical year CMF grants upwards of $175,000 to local organizations for healthcare, essential services, education, civic, recreational and cultural projects!

Permanent endowments and pass-through funds provide support exclusively to projects within the Central Montana area. CMF holds more than 200 of these funds, including its own unrestricted endowments, 11 rural community endowments, a variety of non-profit and tax-exempt organizations in Central Montana and scholarship funds. The 50+ scholarship endowments provide nearly $250,000 annually to scholarships to local students.

Rural Community Endowments

CMF also contributes annual grants to rural community endowments in Central Montana including, Denton, Garfield County, Hobson, Judith Basin, Judith Gap, Moore, Roy, Winifred, Petroleum County, Wheatland County and Winifred.
